Sheri Palmer is the Office Manager at In Focus Eyecare. She is a Missouri native and after spending a few years in Utah, she and her husband, David, consider Gastonia, North Carolina their home. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Truman State University. Despite taking a few years off to be home with her 3 children (Ben, Anna and Joe), she has spent many years in the professional world gaining valuable legal, sales, management and non-profit experience. She has been with In Focus Eyecare since 2008.
The summer of 2018 marks the beginning of Sheri and David's status as empty nesters! Sheri enjoys spending time with her family so she is especially happy when Anna and Joe are home from college. She keeps herself busy volunteering with church, home projects, and loving on her "furry grandchild", a Brittany named Scout. She loves to visit friends and family across the U.S. and looking forward to traveling quite often to Virginia to cheer on Joe and Emory & Henry College baseball! Sheri is a lifelong Cardinals baseball fan.
Although many of her duties now keep her busy in the back, Sheri loves to fill in up front on busy days or when others are out on vacation and get a chance to catch up with many of our longtime patients who come back year after year, as well as, meet the wonderful new patients who come our way. Gina Martinsen, ABOC, is our optician at In Focus Eyecare's optical showroom and dispensary, IFE Optical. Gina was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Dallas, TX and Charlotte, NC where she graduated from the Performance Learning Center. She studied Business Administration and Marketing at Catawba College. Gina and her husband, Joe, tied the knot in the spring of 2018 in Charleston and reside in Rock Hill. Her hobbies include cooking, shopping and spending time with her children and friends. She is the proud mother of two "stinkin' cute" boys, Brayden and Jackson.
Gina began working at In Focus Eyecare in April of 2013 at the front desk and soon became our full-time optician. Certified by the American Board of Opticianry, Gina is trained on the latest technology offered by the optical lens industry and is skilled at helping our patients choose the perfect lenses and styling frames for their lifestyles, personalities and vision needs. She is our frame adjustment and repair guru. Gina also works with our contact lens and CRT patients on insertion and removal trainings, fine-tuning prescriptions with Dr. Neff and placing contact lens and CRT orders for our patients. She has gained extensive knowledge of vision insurance plans and is our expert on optimizing your vision benefits for you. Michele Farkas-Depa is our Patient Services Coordinator and Apprentice Optician at In Focus Eyecare. She joined the team in September of 2018 bringing twenty years of experience in business, retail and healthcare. Michele was born and raised by her Hungarian immigrant parents in New Jersey where she attended Middlesex County College and later met and married Joseph. Magyarul folyékonyan beszél! While in New Jersey she worked for over sixteen years in retail marketing and management until the arrival of her twin girls! At this point Michele switched gears to healthcare, specifically radiology becoming certified in limited scope chest x-ray. She found herself in Charlotte in 2008 following her husband’s job relocation. She stayed busy in the south continuing her work in radiology, retail, and even becoming a Master Gardener while raising the twins. Her career took another turn in 2016 when she began working in the optical world as an Optometric Technician and studying as an apprentice optician. She and Joseph recently built a home and are enjoying life in South Carolina. In her free time Michele enjoys kayaking, camping, gardening and really anything outdoors with her family.
Michele is the first friendly face you will see when you arrive at In Focus Eyecare. She is our expert on scheduling, insurance preparation and guiding you through your visit. With her vast knowledge and experience, she may also assist you with your paperwork, pre-testing, eyewear needs and/or training new contact lens wearers. Jessica Morris, COA, is Dr. Neff's Assistant and Optometric Technician at In Focus Eyecare. She comes to In Focus Eyecare with three years of experience working with retinal and glaucoma specialists as an ophthalmic assistant. Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 2015 from Catawba College while working her way through school. She then attended the ophthalmic technician program at CPCC and achieved COA certification (JCAHO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) enabling her to begin her eye care career with Horizon Eye Care in 2016. Jessica has demonstrated a vast interest in learning. As a glasses wearer since 3rd grade, she is excited to expand her optical knowledge since joining our team in September of 2018. She is an only child and a native Charlottean of Cherokee ancestry. Jessica now resides in Fort Mill and is a proud dog mom to Lady, a Pit Bull. Jessica enjoys sewing, shopping, water activities, bonfires and hiking with Lady.
When you visit In Focus Eyecare, you will see Jessica working side by side with Dr. Neff to provide our patients with cutting edge eye care. She prepares patients for their visit with Dr. Neff by recording medical histories and taking or performing diagnostic tests such as autorefractions, retinal fundus photos, OCT, eye pressure, blood pressure, visual fields, topographies, refractions and color vision tests. She will contact your pharmacy regarding any pharmaceutical prescriptions that Dr. Neff may prescribe to make sure they are prepared for you. She will assist you with making appointments with specialists and any follow-up concerns that may need to be relayed between you and Dr. Neff. Jessica also assists with our contact lens and CRT patients to train new wearers to insert, remove and care for their lenses, as well as, work with patients and Dr. Neff to adjust contact lens prescriptions as needed.
